"She turned to the sunlight and shook her head, and whispered to her neighbor: 'Winter is dead'."
The first day of Spring is only a few days away and I'm literally counting them down on my calendar. For those of us living in Florida, Spring is the unofficial start of Summer. Being outside, seeing the bees buzzing around, smelling the freshly bloomed flowers and feeling the cool salt air on my face brings me such joy. Everything feels fresh and new.
Usually, when Spring arrives we look forward to buying new clothes, getting kissed by the sun and maybe planning a fun get away. I've been checking fashion and beauty blogs and want to pass along the upcoming trends for you.
Braids, braids, braids are going to be the hot hair trend. Luckily there are a ton of Youtube tutorials out there to help you master these at home. I'm going to be polishing up my braiding techniques to keep up and. One trend I noticed a lot were slicked back braids. Now, as a hairstylist, I love this trend! Think about applying a good treatment to your hair, then wrap it tight in a braid. You'll look fashionable and doing your hair a favor at the same time! If you aren't comfortable with your hair pulled back away from for face, there are many soft options. One look I saw over and over were just a couple of tiny braids on each side. You can either let them hang and blend in with your hair or tie them back with a sweet clip or just a couple of colored bob pins. This is a more romantic look, for sure!
As far as fashion goes, I've noticed sheer and flowy fabrics with light pastels and tiny flowers which would tie together your look with the soft braids. Pair that with a tinted moisturizer, a rosy lip and a little mascara and you will look like a dream! Pink is everywhere in every shade, even for hair. Remember, pink is the new blonde...
On the other side, we're seeing a lot of bold, saturated colors and shapes (think 80's). YES! Now, I'm a grown up 80's girl so this excites me so much. Neons, sequins and even fanny packs were hot on the runway at New York Fashion week. You can definitely make this work for you without looking like you're going to a costume party. A little bolder cheek color mixed with your brighter clothes or even a really bold colored hand bag can keep you on trend without making you feel uncomfortable. My prediction is that clients will be asking me for spiral perms before the end of the year. Having graduated cosmetology school in 1989, I can assure you, I am a spiral perm pro! So, if you decide you want one, I'm here for you....
